Titanium wire rolling process and key technologies

The rolling process of titanium wire and titanium alloy wire is one of the important technologies in the field of metal processing. It uses titanium and titanium alloy wire billets as raw materials and produces various specifications of coils or single wire products through precise drawing processes. These titanium wire products are widely used in aerospace, instrumentation, electronics industry, corrosion-resistant materials and other fields, showing their excellent performance and wide applicability.

1. Raw materials and product applications
Raw materials: titanium and titanium alloy wire billets, including but not limited to industrial pure titanium, Ti-15Mo alloy, Ti-15Ta alloy, Ti-3Al, Ti-6Al-4V and other components, which are provided in coils or single wires.
Product applications:
Titanium iodide wire: used in high-end fields such as precision instruments and electronic components.
Ti-15Mo alloy wire: as the suction source material of vacuum titanium ion pump, it plays a key role in the field of vacuum technology.
Ti-15Ta alloy wire: an important suction material in the vacuum industry sector.
Industrial pure titanium and other titanium alloy wires: widely used in corrosion-resistant parts, electrode materials, welding materials and other fields. Some high-strength titanium alloys such as TB2 and TB3 are specifically used in the aerospace industry.

2. Key technical parameters
Heating system and final rolling temperature:
β-type titanium alloy: The pre-rolling heating temperature needs to be slightly lower than the (α+β)/β phase transition temperature to ensure that the rolling process is completed in the α+β phase region.
α-type titanium alloy: Heat treatment is carried out in the α+β phase region.
α+β-type titanium alloy: The heating temperature is higher than the β transition temperature to ensure that the material is fully softened and easy to roll. The heating time is based on the material thickness and is usually calculated at 1~1.5mm/min.
Rolling speed:
In view of the large output demand for titanium and titanium alloy rolled profiles and the need to maintain a certain product length, the rolling speed is generally controlled at 1~3m/s to avoid quality problems caused by excessive speed.
Roller pass design:
According to the characteristics of titanium alloy such as deformation resistance, width expansion value and elongation, select or design a suitable roll pass. For mass-produced titanium alloy profiles, a special roll pass profile for titanium alloy can be specially designed to optimize rolling efficiency and product quality.

With the advancement of science and technology and changes in market demand, the titanium wire rolling process is also being continuously optimized and innovated. In the future, it can be foreseen that further breakthroughs will be made in the following aspects:
Improvement of heating technology: Adopt more efficient heating equipment and more precise temperature control technology to reduce energy consumption and improve heating uniformity.
Increase of rolling speed: Under the premise of ensuring product quality, by optimizing the rolling process and equipment performance, the rolling speed is increased, thereby improving production efficiency.
Intelligent production: Introduce automation and intelligent technology to realize remote monitoring and intelligent control of the titanium wire rolling process, and improve the stability and reliability of the production process.

In summary, as one of the important technologies in the field of metal processing, the titanium wire rolling process, the precise control of its process parameters, the continuous upgrading of rolling equipment and the promotion of intelligent production will provide strong support for the wide application of titanium wire and titanium alloy wire.
