Titanium alloy forging temperature range

Titanium alloy is a high-quality metal material with excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Titanium alloys widely used in industry are usually formed by forging process. Forging temperature range is one of the key factors to ensure the quality of titanium alloy forging.

The forging temperature range of titanium alloy is generally between 800°C and 1000°C. In this temperature range, titanium alloys have good plasticity and forgeability, and can adapt to the deformation needs of the forging process. When the temperature is higher than 1000°C, the titanium alloy will be over-burned, and the melting point temperature is between 1670°C and 1750°C, which will destroy the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the titanium alloy. Therefore, strictly controlling the forging temperature range is an important step to ensure the quality of titanium alloy forging.

When forging titanium alloys, in addition to the temperature range requirements, the following factors also need to be paid attention to:

1. Heating speed: Titanium alloy has a high thermal expansion coefficient and needs to be heated gradually to avoid deformation and cracks due to thermal stress. Therefore, the heating speed should be moderate and should not be too fast or too slow.

2. Heating time: Maintaining a suitable heat preservation time can ensure that the titanium alloy reaches a sufficient thermal stability state and gives it good plasticity and forgeability. The holding time is usually determined according to the thickness and shape of the titanium alloy.

3. Cooling rate: The forging process of titanium alloy usually requires cooling to solidify the internal structure. Too fast a cooling rate will lead to inhomogeneous organization and affect the properties of the material. Therefore, the cooling rate should be moderate, not too fast or too slow.

4. Scale control: When forging titanium alloys, appropriate forging equipment and molds must be selected according to specific conditions. By controlling the forging pressure and deformation process, the forging quality of titanium alloys can be effectively avoided due to excessive or small dimensional changes.

In short, the forging temperature range of titanium alloy is a key factor to ensure the quality of titanium alloy forging. By controlling the heating rate, holding time, cooling rate and scale, high-quality titanium alloy forgings can be obtained. At the same time, the appropriate temperature range and process parameters can also ensure the efficient and sustainable development of the titanium alloy forging process.
