The structural materials of the equipment, otherwise phenomena such as running, explosion, dripping, and leakage will occur during the production process, which will seriously affect normal production and product quality. In recent years, with the rapid development of my country's chlor-alkali industry and the continuous emergence of new equipment and new processes, the application scope of titanium in the chlor-alkali industry has gradually expanded. It is widely used in the manufacture of metal anode electrolyzers, ion membrane electrolyzers, wet oxygen coolers, refined brine preheaters, dechlorination towers, chlorine cooling and washing towers, etc. The parts of these equipment used to be made of non-metallic materials. Due to the unsatisfactory mechanical properties, thermal stability and processing performance of non-metallic materials, the equipment is bulky, energy-consuming, short-lived and of poor quality.

Titanium rods have excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties and are widely used in many sectors. Especially in chemical applications, titanium can replace stainless steel as a corrosion-resistant material, which is of great significance for extending the service life of equipment, reducing costs, preventing pollution, and improving productivity. Therefore, since the 1970s, my country has successively replaced graphite batteries with metal anode batteries and ion membrane batteries, and replaced graphite coolers with titanium wet chlorine coolers, all of which have achieved good results.

For example: Application of titanium wet chlorine cooler. The electrolysis of table salt to produce caustic soda will produce a large amount of high temperature and wet chlorine gas. The temperature is generally between 75 and 95°C, and it needs to be cooled and dried before use. In the past, my country's production of chlorine gas by electrolysis of salt had problems with unreasonable cooling processes or corrosion of cooling equipment, which affected the output and quality of chlorine gas, and also seriously polluted the environment. The production of titanium coolers resistant to high temperature wet chlorine corrosion has changed the production face of chlorine production in the chlor-alkali industry. Titanium is extremely corrosion-resistant in high-temperature, wet chlorine environments. In chlorine water at room temperature, the corrosion rate of titanium is 0.000565mm/a; in chlorine water at 80°C, the corrosion rate of titanium is 0.00431mm/a; in chlorine water containing 95%, in wet chlorine gas, the corrosion rate of titanium at room temperature is 0.00096mm/a. Used for nearly 20 years and still in good condition.
