Lightning Protection Guard Made Of Titanium Alloy: Oil Derrick Lightning Rod
Oil derrick lightning rod is an alloy lightning rod. The main materials are titanium and steel. The appearance is golden. It is a particularly corrosion-resistant alloy lightning rod. The top of the lightning rod is made of titanium alloy, the middle is an insulation layer, and the bottom is a support rod and flange. The length of the support rod can be customized according to requirements. The insulation layer is to insulate between the lightning rod and the metal components of the oil derrick to prevent lightning current from passing through the main body of the oil derrick and causing equipment damage during the discharge process.
Titanium has high chemical activity and produces strong chemical reactions with O, N, H, CO, CO2, water vapor, ammonia, etc. in the atmosphere. When the carbon content is greater than 0.2%, hard TiC will be formed in the titanium alloy; when the temperature is high, it will react with N to form a hard surface layer of TiN; above 600°C, titanium absorbs oxygen to form a very hard hardened layer ; As the hydrogen content rises, a brittle layer will also form. The depth of the hard and brittle surface layer produced by absorbing gas can reach 0.1~0.15 mm, and the degree of hardening is 20%~30%. Titanium also has a high chemical affinity and is prone to adhesion to friction surfaces.
1. High strength, so the specific strength (strength/density) of titanium alloy is much greater than that of other metal structural materials, and parts with high unit strength, good rigidity and light weight can be produced.
2. High thermal strength. The working temperature of titanium alloy can reach 500°C, while that of aluminum alloy is below 200°C. Therefore, titanium alloy lightning rods are more practical to install in chimneys or high-temperature areas.
3. Good corrosion resistance. Titanium alloy works in humid atmosphere and seawater media. Its corrosion resistance is much better than stainless steel. It has excellent corrosion resistance against alkali, chloride, chlorine-based organic substances, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, etc.
4. Good low-temperature properties. Titanium alloys can still maintain their mechanical properties at low and ultra-low temperatures and have good low-temperature properties.
5. Longer life. Lightning rods have the above advantages and have a longer life than ordinary lightning rods.
6. Easy to install, the installation is fixed according to the instructions or drawings, and the special design is easy to install.
The use of lightning rods
When installing lightning rods on oil derricks, the main designed items are: lightning rods, stainless steel struts, down conductors, ground rods, and ground connection wires (which can be the same type of items as down conductors). The lightning rods need to be fixed at a relatively high point on the oil derrick. .
The lightning rod and the stainless steel support rod are assembled together, and the down conductor is fixed through the copper nose and the bolt on the lightning rod support rod. The flange at the bottom of the lightning rod rod is fixed somewhere on the top of the derrick, and is fixed at the top corner of the derrick, where people do not flow frequently.
The insulated downconductor passes through the equipment from the bottom of the support pole, and is fixed at the edge of the equipment with a tie in a place where there is little flow of personnel.
After the insulated down-lead passes downward, connect the down-lead from the bottom of the equipment to the grounding wire.
