Titanium steel composite plate manufacturing method

Introduction to titanium steel composite panels

Titanium steel composite plate is a composite material plate formed by bonding titanium and steel together through hot rolling, cold rolling and other processes. It combines the lightweight, corrosion-resistant and high-strength properties of titanium with the toughness and rigidity of steel, giving it excellent overall performance.

Manufacturing method of titanium steel composite plate

General methods for manufacturing composite steel plates include: filled metal ingot rolling method, explosive cladding method, rolling and crimping method, surfacing welding method, etc. In the case of using titanium steel composite plates, considering the characteristics of titanium, the industry often uses the explosive cladding method or the rolling and crimping method. The actual production methods include ① continuous hot rolling method ② thick plate rolling method ③ explosion compound method.
Below, I will introduce these three methods in detail.

1. Continuous hot rolling method:
The continuous hot rolling method is basically the same as the thick plate rolling method. The only difference is that a steel plate is added between the two plates and then arc welded in the atmosphere. Finally, it is continuously rolled to the required thickness by a continuous hot rolling mill and taken out in coil form. Finally, cut the periphery and separate it into two boards.

2. Thick plate rolling method:
The thick plate rolling method first assembles the titanium plate (composite material) and the steel plate (base material) into an embedded slab. An appropriate intervening material is placed between the titanium and steel plates and then electron beam welded in a high vacuum environment. Finally, it is heated in a heating furnace and pressed on a thick plate rolling mill until it reaches the required thickness, so that the titanium plate and the steel plate are truly combined. Finally, cut the periphery and separate it into two boards.

3. Explosive compounding method:
First, keep a certain distance between the two metal plates to be connected, and place an appropriate amount of explosives on them. Then, the explosive is detonated from one end, and the explosion speed can reach thousands of meters per second. Through this explosive energy, the titanium plate collides with the base steel plate at an angle. At the collision point, due to the very large deformation speed and ultra-high pressure, the base steel plate and titanium plate show fluid behavior, and the oxide film and gas adsorption layer on the metal surface are eliminated, thus completing a clean face-to-face joint in an instant, which is called It is a cold joint. The titanium steel composite plate manufactured by this method can continue to be hot rolled to a plate thickness of 4mm, so it is also called the explosive composite method.

in conclusion

Through fine control of the above manufacturing methods, titanium steel composite panels can obtain excellent performance and appearance characteristics, and are suitable for a wide range of fields such as aerospace, chemical industry, and marine engineering. Strictly controlling each link during the entire production process to ensure stable and controllable quality is the key to ensuring the quality of the final product of titanium steel composite panels.
